How much does an AI voice agent cost

How the per-minute price of a voice agent is actually built, with the real formula and no flat rate hiding the usage.

The minute is not a price, it is a sum

When someone asks how much a voice agent costs, the honest answer is not a number, it is a sum of three things. The voice that speaks, the language model that thinks, and the infrastructure that holds the call up.

Changing the voice moves the price. Changing the model moves it more. That is why a flat rate always hides a decision someone made for you, usually giving you the cheapest configuration or overcharging you for the good one.

The formula, no mystery

In Lera the per-minute price is the voice rate plus the model rate plus the infrastructure rate. Nothing else. The result is shown to three decimals on the pricing page, and it is the same number you will see on the receipt.

The range starts at €0.073 per minute with the cheapest voice and model, and goes up with what you configure. An agent using a premium voice and a large model costs considerably more than one booking appointments with a simple voice, and it is right that it should.

Per second, not per started minute

A seventy second call is billed as seventy seconds. Not as two minutes. It sounds like a detail until you see the effect across hundreds of short calls, which is exactly the profile of anyone booking appointments or logging service requests.

There is no monthly fee either. If a month brings few calls, that month costs you little. Balance is prepaid and can be topped up automatically when it drops below a threshold you choose.

What is not included and worth knowing

Forwarding your number. Your first inbound line is included and receiving calls on it costs nothing, but forwarding your usual number to that line is billed by your carrier according to your plan (the panel tells you how much before you turn it on). Each additional line has a fee of €3 a month. If your number is already with a VoIP carrier or on a PBX, it connects directly and there is no forwarding to pay.

Handing the call to a person adds nothing extra. The agent is charged until it connects them, and the conversation between them is included. Many platforms charge that leg separately as telephony, so it is worth asking.

How to compare without fooling yourself

Take your real case. Calls per month and average duration. Multiply by the per-minute price of the configuration you will actually use, not the cheapest in the catalogue. Add telephony if the platform charges it separately. That is your cost.

Then compare that number against what not answering costs you today. One appointment lost at nine in the evening is worth a lot of minutes.

Trying it without a card

The Lera trial is 10 € of credit, no card and no deadline. It ends when you spend the credit, not when a clock runs out. That is enough to place calls, hear how it sounds and see the history with the analysis of each call.

It is the only serious way to decide. Per-minute price compares in a spreadsheet, but if the agent sounds bad it does not matter what it costs.
