A “call me back” button on your website, and your agent returns the call

How the “call me back” mode of your website button works, how to set it up, what it checks before calling and which plan it comes with.

What “call me back” mode is

It is another version of the button on your website. Instead of talking to your agent through the browser microphone, visitors type in their phone number and your agent calls them.

The conversation is a real phone call, made by your agent and received on their mobile or landline. That is why it does not ask for the microphone and works in any browser, including those that block audio.

Picture a furniture shop that also sells online. Someone is looking at a sofa in the afternoon and has questions about delivery. They do not want to hunt for the number or wait for an email reply. They leave their number, get the call right away and hang up with a visit booked to see the fabric.

What your visitors see

A button with “Call me back” appears in a corner. Clicking it opens “We call you”, with two fields, their name, which is optional, and their phone number with the country code, for example +34.

Below is a box, “I agree to be called on this number.” They cannot send without ticking it, and it stays on record that they asked for the call.

They click “Call me” and see “Done. We will call you shortly.” If it is outside calling hours, they see instead that a call is not possible right now and that they should try again during opening hours.

If they leave their name, your agent receives it as {{nombre}} and can use it in the greeting, for example “Hi {{nombre}}, I am calling from the shop”.

How to set it up, step by step

First, the person check. In Settings, API Keys, Public Keys tab, when you create your website’s key, turn on “Check that the caller is a person”. You need a free Cloudflare Turnstile account with your domain registered. In this mode it is mandatory, and without it the button never ends up calling anyone.

Second, the agent that calls. In Phone numbers, on the Outbound calls card of your line, choose which agent uses that number to call. That is the one that returns the call.

Third, the code. On the key’s card you copy your website code, and for this mode you add data-widget="callback" to it. If someone else runs your website, send it to them with that note.

And if you would rather we got it ready for you, the Lera team creates the agent that calls and gives you a quote.

What it checks before calling

That it is a person. Here it is not just balance at stake, someone’s phone rings, which is why the check is mandatory.

That it is a good time. It only calls between 9 am and 8 pm, mainland Spain time, and within your agent’s hours if it has them. Your agent’s hours can shorten that window, never extend it.

That the number can be called. It only calls Spanish numbers, mobiles and landlines, and never premium-rate ones such as 806 or 902 numbers. If the number is on your do-not-call list, it is not called.

That it is not repeated. Clicking twice does not create two calls, and the same number cannot request more than two calls in an hour. Each key also accepts up to 3 requests a minute and 30 a day.

What to know

It is a call your agent makes, so on a plan it comes with Professional and above, like other outbound calls. It uses minutes like any other call. On pay as you go, if it goes out through your Lera line, it carries a per-minute supplement shown in the dashboard.

Because it is a phone call, it can end with someone on your team if your agent has Transfer call. From the website talk button, on the other hand, the call cannot be handed to anyone.

If it reaches voicemail, your agent does what you chose on its page under Voicemail, just hang up or leave a message.

The person receiving the call sees your Lera line’s number, or your own if you have connected it directly to Lera. The call shows up in your Call history like any other.

Frequently asked questions

Does the visitor need a microphone? No. They type in their number and get a normal phone call, so it works in any browser.

What if someone leaves another person’s number? That is what the person check is for, mandatory in this mode, along with the per-number limits. If the number is on your do-not-call list, it is not called.

Does it call at any time? No. Only between 9 am and 8 pm, mainland Spain time, and within your agent’s hours. Outside them, the visitor sees that a call is not possible right now.
